One thing is immediately clear: the mast hand is too far from the mast. I suspect this prevents me from bending forward more once I’m on the other side.
ok, first of impressive your looking awEsome on those!!! great progress since we last sailed together and amazing progress since the abk camp.
having said that;
When you take off your head is starting back and because of that during the spin it is moving along the radius of the spin, so when you are reaching for the new side your head and body are moving backward past the sail.
-Focus points start your take off with your HEAD MORE OVER THE CENTER OF THE BOARD.
-trying to MOVE BODY TOWARDS THE MAST as you are moving it behind you [that sweeping of the broom idea we talked about] will help the sail land in front of you on the reach.
-LAND ON YOUR FRONT FOOT, with back foot still up almost tackeling the sail when it ends up in front of you while you slide backwards will reduce the tail digging in and sinking/throwing you off the back.
with your size and the board your on landing on your front foot with the sail well in front of you as you reach is a must. digging in the tail will arrest your slide and your body will keep moving backwards.
again man they look awEsome keep up the good work!
brendon
p.s. you are correct in noticing the hand placement, try and move it all the way forward on the boom right next to the mast.
looks like the sail is sheeted out a little bit when you go to jump. try to stay sheeted in a lot when you pop, this helps the board rotate (like when you sheet in on a forward), then release the back hand as you leave the water.
Just try and focus on a 3 things, everything else looks good.
1. Front hand need to the mast
2. Try taking off witht the mast raked slightly further back this way when your on the new side you wont get pushed back into the water.
3. Be more aggressive with the sheeing before the pop this will give you more rotation. ( a must when u learning to spock.
oh yer and i found that taking off slightly more than normal helped, although this didnt give me much slide, i landed more at first attempts.
